Databricks is powerful because it unifies many data workflows that often live in separate systems. Data engineers can build pipelines, data scientists can train models, analysts can query data, and governance teams can manage access through a shared platform. For organizations with serious data and AI needs, that is a major advantage.
The downside is cost and complexity. Usage-based pricing can be hard to predict if teams do not manage compute carefully. Databricks also requires data engineering skill, cloud knowledge and governance discipline. It is excellent for large-scale data and AI workloads, but overkill for teams that only need basic BI dashboards.
